Today the skies are clear and blue, the temperature is mild and the breeze is gentle. Such a contrast to the events of the last 24 hours. Hurricane Idalia with tropical storm winds, dark ominous skies, and plenty of rain. With such drastic changes within short time periods make understanding what is going on a little hard.

During my quiet time with God today I was praying about the way the wind changes so often and sometimes so severely. Asking God, "what am I to learn'. His response lead me to the scripture.

John 3:7-9

International Children’s Bible, 1986

7 Don’t be surprised when I tell you, ‘You must all be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wants to go. You hear the wind blow. But you don’t know where the wind comes from or where it is going. It is the same with every person who is born from the Spirit.”

How is being born of the Spirit related to wind that blows when, where, and how it wants to? I continued to meditate on this and the thought of being fully surrendered to the will and way of God was impressed upon me. To fully trust God in the times of storm and of peace, to allow Him to lead even if we don't see where we are going or what we are moving away from. This kind of trust and yielded posture is what being submitted to a KING actually is all about.  What we believe of the nature and character of God, His goodness and love, and plans and purposes for creation will dictate how we either flow with or resist His movement among us.

Being born again to ride the wind and not see it as a buffeting force, to rise with it and not secure ourselves to what was or what we think is important. To offer ourselves without FEAR to move according to His plan. So let us not critique the breeze, speculate its path or destination, but freely catch and enjoy the wind of His presence in and through all things.
